What We Do

Nebraska 117 will provide all the training, educational materials and an organized, proven process to build and sustain Care Teams within your church.

What We Do

We equip churches to support local foster families. By training churches on how to create and lead successful Care Teams, we’re working toward seeing every child in a safe, loving and supported family.

Caring for children from hard places and working within a sometimes frustrating system makes fostering and adopting an isolating journey. The practical and tangible support from people that care is sometimes not enough. Nebraska 117 Counseling provides counseling and emotional support for foster, adoptive, and biological families.

Who We Serve

We partner with churches in Nebraska to provide what vulnerable children need most - supported families. We train coordinators to build the bridge between the church and foster families to fulfill God’s mandate to care for vulnerable children. We want to see every foster child in a loving home supported by a group of people that we call Care Teams.

What Is A Care Team?

A Care Team, much like an extended family, is a group of 6 – 10 people who support and serve a foster family. This team provides regular and ongoing help such as meals, child care, laundry or yard work.

Why Care Teams?

Parents who foster need to know they’ll be well-supported. Children in foster care have unique needs and require intentional focus from their foster parents. Foster families need a community to surround them in their calling. 50% of foster families quit within the first year. With a care team, greater than 90% will foster beyond one year.

How Can I Help?

Not everyone is called to be a foster parent, but everyone can play a role. Find out more what role you can play to support a foster family by visting our Get Involved page or Contact us to find out how you can support vulnerable children.
